P82B715TD: I2C总线扩展器

P82B715是一款双极IC,主要用于IC总线和衍生总线系统应用。在保留IC总线所有工作模式和功能的同时,它允许通过缓冲数据(SDA)和时钟(SCL)线路来延长I2C总线上组件之间的实际间隔距离。

400 pF的IC总线电容极限会将实际通信距离限制为几米。在长电缆的两端分别使用一个P82B715(连接Lx/Ly至Lx/Ly )会将所链接IC总线上的电缆负载减少10倍,允许总系统电容负载(连接至IC总线的所有器件、电缆、接口、走线或电线)变为大约3000 pF,同时保持各IC总线Sx/Sy侧上的负载仍低于400 pF。更长电缆或低成本、通用配线可用于链接基于IC总线的模块,而不会使噪音容限下降。只要系统的总电容小于大约3000 pF且各总线Sx/Sy连接处的电容小于400 pF,即可以星形或多点架构通过Lx/Ly端口连接多个P82B715。通过将主和/或从器件连接至各P82B715的Sx/Sy端口,此配置具备完全的多主器件通信能力。单独的P82B715不支持电压电平变换,但可在需要时使用低成本晶体管进行简单实施。Sx/Sy I/O之间的互连没有限制,且因为器件输出电平始终保持在100 mV的输入驱动电平范围内,所以P82B715兼容使用电压电平偏移的总线缓冲器,例如,PCA9511A、PCA9517、P82B96的Sx/Sy侧。

更低的VOL电平以及能使用任何主器件、从器件或总线缓冲器进行工作,是使用P82B715构成长距离总线的主要优点,缺点是无法像P82B96或PCA9600那样隔离总线电容。P82B96和PCA9600的主要缺点是隔离总线电容所需的静态电平偏移不允许这些器件配合其他带有特殊偏移电平的总线缓冲器,或配合要求VIL低于0.8 V噪音容限的主/从器件工作。第8.2节中包含成熟的快速设计点对点/多点电路,允许快速使用P82B715并提供比较波形,从而使设计师能看清P82B715和P82B96/PCA9600之间的利弊并选择最适合其应用的器件类型。
