SC16C654B/654DB是一款四通道通用异步接收器和发送器(QUART),用于串行数据通信。其主要功能是将并行数据转换成串行数据或将串行数据转换成并行数据。UART可处理最高5 Mbit/s的串行数据速率。附带Intel或Motorola接口。

SC16C654B/654DB的引脚兼容ST16C654和TL16C754,其功能等同于16C454。对控制寄存器进行编程可启用SC16C654B/654DB的附加功能。其中一些附加功能为64字节接收和发送FIFO、自动硬件或软件流控制以及红外编码/解码。可选的自动流控制功能通过使用RTS输出和CTS输入信号自动控制串行数据流,在FIFO模式中显著降低软件负载并提升系统效率。SC16C654B/654DB还提供通过FIFO触发电平以及TXRDY和RXRDY信号进行的DMA模式数据传输。(HVQFN48封装不提供TXRDY和RXRDY信号。)板载状态寄存器为用户提供错误指示、操作状态和调制解调器接口控制。可定制系统中断以满足用户需求。内部环回能力允许进行板载诊断。

SC16C654B/654DB工作在5 V、3.3 V和2.5 V以及工业温度范围下,且提供塑料PLCC68、LQFP64、LQFP80、HVQFN48和LFBGA64封装。

在HVQFN48封装中,仅通道C才具有所有调制解调器引脚。通道A和通道B仅有RTS和CTS引脚,而通道D没有任何调制解调器引脚。
