The CoolMOS™ C7 series brings a new level of performance in hard switching applications such as power factor correction (PFC) when additional 50V of breakdown voltage is needed versus 600V CoolMOS™ C7. It provides efficiency benefits across the whole load range through balancing a number of key parameters.
The best-in-class R DS(on) leads to increased full load efficiency and enables power density benefits by using smaller packages for the same R DS(on). The E oss reduction brings efficiency benefits at light load and the low Q G correlates to faster switching. The very low E oss and Q G are the two key parameters in enabling no efficiency loss when moving up in switching frequency. This also enables power density benefits by reducing the size of the circuits magnetic components.
- Infineon Technologies introduces the new 650V CoolMOS™ C7 Gold technology in latest surface mount device (SMD) TO-Leadless (TOLL) package. The CoolMOS™ C7 Gold series (G7) for the first time brings together the benefits of the improved 650V CoolMOS™ C7 Gold technology, 4pin Kelvin source capability and the improved thermal properties of the TOLL package to enable an SMD solution for high current hard switching topologies such as power factor correction (PFC) up to 3kW.
